Mi cumpleaños es el _ Wednesday, Jan. 4: Students did the bellwork in their notebooks (page 172, #2), writing out the sentences & filling in the blanks. They also continued presentations of the poems and finished dialogues. We then worked on chapter 6, and we did page 170, ex. 17, in class together. Then we read the culture articles on pages 188-190, and they finished the questions on page 189 in their notebooks. Tarea: pages 57-58 in the workbook. Friday: Quiz, Palabras 1 Tuesday, Jan. 3: Students are presenting their poems today, and through the week. We also began working in chapter 6, including the vocabulary & taking notes on the grammar. Tarea: finish posters & poem presentations. Monday, Jan. 2: Free Day Friday, Dec. 16: Students wrote their rough drafts essays (three sentences) about their favorite scene from Don Quixote. These are due on Jan. 15. Poems are due on Jan. 5. Thursday, Dec. 15: Students presented Chapter 5 dialogues in groups. Wednesday, Dec. 14: Students were assessed on their key questions, and they were able to practice their dialogues for tomorrow's presentations. Dialogues must be typed and memorized for tomorrow. Tuesday, Dec. 13: Students took the chapter 5 test & also turned in their workbooks for a workbook check. Tomorrow: key questions. Thursday: Quiz, Palabras 1 Monday, Nov. 28: Students turned in their El Corte Ingles shopping lists, and they were also given a progress report of missing work, if they had lower than a B. We began working on chapter 5, including taking notes on the grammar (page 150) and the vocabulary in Palabras 1 & 2. Tarea: pages 45-46 in the workbook. Thursday: Palabras 1 Quiz Friday, Nov. 18: Students were assessed on their key questions. Over the vacation, they should finish typing their chapter 4 essays and do their shopping list. Thursday, Nov. 17: Students took the chapter 4 test & they also turned in their workbooks & notebooks to be checked. They also were told they needed to go on an online shopping spree over Thanksgiving Break. They must find 10 items & print out their cart. Tomorrow there will be a grammar quiz. They also completed the remaining dialogues. Tarea: pages 31-32. Wednesday, Nov. 2: Students presented their dialogues with their groups. They also had to turn in a typed copy of the dialogue. They also began working on chapter 4, Palabras 1. Tarea: pages 29-30. Tuesday, Nov. 1: Students brought in their Pan de muerto for extra credit, and we watched the video about the Day of the Dead. Tomorrow, students will present their dialogues in class. They must be memorized & typed. Friday, Oct. 28: Students corrected the chapter 3 tests in class, and they were assessed on their key questions. Tarea: type & memorize dialogues for presentations on November 2. Thursday, Oct. 13: Students received their chapter 2 tests to review, and we also took a practice numbers quiz over 0-30. Then we began chapter 3, including vocabulary & grammar. Tarea: pages 19-20 in the workbook. Tomorrow: Numbers Quiz, 0-30 Wednesday, Oct. 12: There is a sub today, and the students watch Part I of "Don Quixote." Tarea: finish typing essays. Tuesday, Oct. 11: Students took notes about Don Quixote and talked about the story which they will watch tomorrow with a sub. We also corrected the tests from yesterday, and they were quizzed over their key questions. Tarea: finish essays. Monday, Oct. 10: Students took the chapter 2 tests, and they had notebook & workbook checks. Be ready tomorrow for key questions. They also received the corrected rough drafts of their essays. They must type them and turn them in one week from today. Tuesday, Sept. 13: Students watched Destinos, Episode 1, and we read the culture articles in class (pages 30-35 in the textbook). Then they answered the questions on page 35 in their notebooks (A. writing out the sentences and filling in the blank & B. identifying the words in bold print.) Tarea: pages 3 & 4 in the workbook. Quiz tomorrow: Preliminary Vocabulary (matching quiz) Friday: Palabras 1 Quiz (regular spelling quiz) Monday, Sept. 12: Students did the bellwork from the textbook (page 20, #9, writing a sentence about each picture.) They also received 10 points for having their textbook covered. We continued to take notes about the vocabulary (Palabras 2) and chapter grammar, including the verbs to be, or Ser & Estar. We also worked in the listening manual and the workbook, doing the first night's homework in class. Tarea: pages 1 & 2 in the workbook. Friday: Sept. 9: Students did the bellwork from the textbook (page 10, #2 & 4). They should write out the question & the answer in their notebooks. We continued to work in chapter 1, taking notes over the grammar in the chapter & doing the listening manual activities for Palabras 1. We also added the hundreds to the study guide numbers in order to have one location for that information. Tarea: study the study guide & vocabulary lists. Next week the homework will be from the workbook. Homework/Tarea: study the study guide and vocabulary lists. Wednesday there will be a matching quiz over the preliminary section, and there will be a regular quiz over Palabras 1 on Friday. Due Monday: Covers for textbook (for 10 points) Wednesday, Sept. 7: Students will receive the following study materials for use during the first week of school. We will review the syllabus, study guide, and preliminary vocabulary. Students should turn in their parent contact information by Monday. They should also be able to access the webpage.
**Students should plan to study at least 20 minutes each night for Spanish class, whether they have homework or not. They can study grammar from the text or memorize vocabulary. |
