Students received back their corrected tests from Tuesday. We also began working on chapter 12, including taking notes about the grammar. Tarea: pages 149-150 in the workbook.





Thursday, May 17:

There will be a substitute teacher in class and students will watch part 4 of "El Cid," Spanish Epic Poem from 1100 A.D. about Rodrigo Diaz, the national hero of Spain, also known as "El Cid." There will be a quiz over the notes and the movie on Friday.

Students were assessed on the key questions for chapter 11, and we finished up the workbook checks and passport presentations.

Students worked on their passport projects in class. We assembled all the pieces together & the rough drafts of their essays were returned as well. They will have one week to type the essays & complete the assembling of their passports. They will also be presenting one of the essays MEMORIZED ONE WEEK FROM TODAY. Students also received the key questions for chapter 11 & we discussed the correct response too.

Students worked on their dialogues in groups in class. They were based on chapter 10 (talking about visiting a museum, a cinema, a theater, art show in the past tense). The dialogues should be 7 lines per person (5+ words per person). The rough drafts will be returned on Monday, and students will have a week to memorize them. They will perform the skits in class on Monday, April 30. Tarea: pages 127-128 in the workbooks.

The essays were returned to the students, and they will be due (typed, & stapled to the rough draft) after spring break. We also played some review games about chapter 9, bingo & pictionary. Tarea: essays & study for test on Tuesday.

Students wrote their essays for chapter 9, (based on page 299, #4, write 7 sentences of 5+ words each). They will have to type them and turn their finished essays stapled to the rough draft after Spring Break. Tarea: Chapter 9 Assessment.

Students watched Destinos, Ep. 19, and then they worked on a handout in class, "El Calendario" (four pages), using pages 8, 9 & 10 in the textbook. Tarea: pages 113-114.

Then they worked on another assignment in their notebooks for more practice using the past tense, page 289, #28 (write the questions & a complete sentence answer), and #29 (write a sentence in the past tense for each picture). Tarea: page 290 in the textbook.

Wednesday, Sept. 7:

Students will receive the following study materials for use during the first week of school. We will review the syllabus, study guide, and preliminary vocabulary. Students should turn in their parent contact information by Monday. They should also be able to access the webpage.

**Students should plan to study at least 20 minutes each night for Spanish class, whether they have homework or not. They can study grammar from the text or memorize vocabulary.
