Students worked on their passports in class, including folding the construction paper. They also received the various components, and we filled out the forms. Then we worked on the ch. 11 Repaso together, and they were allowed to finish it in class. Tarea: page 350 in the textbook.

There is a sub today, and they watch the first part of "El Cid." He is the national hero of Spain & the epic poem about him is the first great work of Spanish literature. We will complete the story later in the semester. Tarea: study for exam & finish makeup work.

Students took the test over chapter 6, and they also turned in their workbooks for a workbook check grade. They also received the study guide for the final exam. This is worth 100 points, and it is due on the final exam day. Tarea: finish family trees.

Students took the quiz over Palabras 2, and we corrected it in class. Then we wrote essays based on chapter 4, about their daily routine, p. 128, #3. The essays should be 7 sentences (at least 5 words per sentence), and questions don't count toward the total. Tarea: page 120 in the textbook.

Monday, Oct. 28:

Students did the bellwork, page 117, #20, and we reviewed their answers in class. Then we checked their homework in the workbook, and did a grammar worksheet for more grammar practice. Tarea: pages 39-40 in the workbook.

Students took the quiz over Palabras 1, and we corrected it in class. We also checked the homework. Then we worked on the culture review for chapter 4. Tarea: pages 37-38.

Students worked on a grammar worksheet together in class, and we also corrected the homework from the workbook. Then we read the culture articles together. They also received a handout with information about Día de los Muertos activities in the area. Tarea: pages 35-36.

Students did the bellwork, p. 116, #117, writing a complete sentence answer for each question. They were also given the key questions for chapter 4. Then we checked the homework from the workbook & continued working in the listening manual. They also worked on a crossword puzzle of ch. 1-4 vocabulary. Tarea: pages 33-34.

Students did the bellwork, p. 115, #15 in their notebooks & we checked it in class. We also practiced more exercises in the textbook, p. 107, #3, p. 110, #6, & p. 114, #13. Then we corrected the homework in the workbook and worked in the listening manual. Tarea: pages 31-32.

Students took the quiz over numbers by tens to 100. Then we played a review game & practiced the dialogues one more time before presentations next Monday. Tarea: Study for test!

Students did the bellwork on page 85, #15, in their notebooks, and we checked it in class. They also worked in the textbook together, page 86, #86, and finished the listening manual. Then they worked on the Repaso and were allowed to finish the crossword puzzle in class. Tarea: pages 27-28.

Students did the bellwork, page 82, #9, and we reviewed it in class. They also turned in their essays for chapter 2. Then, we checked the homework and worked on a grammar worksheet. Tarea: pages 23-24 in the workbook.

Students took the quiz over numbers, 0-30, and we corrected it in class. They were able to review their tests for chapter 2, as well. We also worked in chapter 3, including Palabras 2 & grammar. Tarea: page 119-120.

Students had a sub and watched "Don Quixote" Part 1. They also took notes about the author & story. Tarea: finish essays.

Tuesday, Oct. 1:

Students began working in chapter 3, including grammar & Palabras 1, and we learned a verb song for conjugating verbs in Spanish. Students should check Powerschool to make sure their grades are all accurate. Tarea: finish essays.

Students took the test over chapter 2, and they turned in their workbooks for a workbook check. They were also assessed on their key questions for chapter 2. Their rough draft essays were returned & they will be due a week from today (Mon, Oct. 7). Handout: chapter 3 vocabulary lists. Tarea: type essays.

Students worked on their essays for chapter 2, and they had to be turned in by the end of the period. Page 69, #3. Writing 6 sentences, at least 4 words long each. They will receive the corrected rough draft on Monday, and they will type it (just like chapter 1). We also played a review game, telling time bingo. Tarea: Study for ch. 2 test on Monday!

Tuesday, Sept. 17:

Students began working in chapter 2 today. We reveiwed the vocabulary & grammar from the chapter and took notes on the chapter. Tarea: pages 11-12 in the workbook.

Students corrected the chapter 1 test in class & they received the chapter 2 vocabulary lists and Pan de Muerto extra credit. (This is the only extra credit project for the year.) They can translate the recipe, make the bread, and bring it on Oct. 4 when we talk about the Day of the Dead in order to earn 25 points of extra credit. Tarea: finish typing essays, to turn in on Sept 20.

Students received 10 points for having their textbooks covered, and we did bellwork in the notebooks, page 20, #9, write a sentence in Spanish for each picture. We read the rest of the culture articles, pages 32-35, worked in the listening manual, and corrected the homework in the workbook. Tarea: pages 3-4 in the workbook.

Students reviewed the study guide & chapter 1 grammar. We also read the culture article on pages, 30-31. Tarea: pages 1-2 in the workbook. There was a short schedule due to an assembly.

Thursday, August 29:

Students began working in Chapter 1, including reviewing the vocabulary from Palabras 1 & 2, taking notes on grammar, and using the listening manual. We also reviewed the study guide, and added the hundreds to the list. We talked more about classroom rules & procedures. All students should have their workook, notebook, and covered textbook for classes.

Students reviewed the Lecciones Preliminares, pages 1-11, and we practiced the numbers and alphabet. They had time to work with a partner to spell in Spanish to a partner. All the students should be studying at least 20 minutes each night, including using the link to the Quizlet.com account on my homepage.

Tuesday, Aug. 27:

Students will receive the following study materials for use during the first week of school. We will review the syllabus, study guide, and preliminary vocabulary. Students should turn in their parent contact information by Monday. They should also be able to access the webpage. They also need to get their workbooks from the library (a donation of $20). We will use their textbook & workbook everyday in class.

**Students should plan to study at least 20 minutes each night for Spanish class, whether they have homework or not. They can study grammar from the text or memorize vocabulary.
